You all know how much I love warm fruit. It just makes the best dessert, sweet treat, or side dish for any dinner! You can’t go wrong when you bake a fruit and spike it with cinnamon. It makes everyone happy.
Got a sweet tooth? Baked fruit is your answer! I have recipes for baked peaches, baked pears, and, of course, my beloved healthy baked apples. Well, today, you get a new way to prepare delicious, warm fruit: your air fryer!
Let’s make Air Fryer Apples!
Why You Should Cook Apples in the Air Fryer
I still love making baked apples in the oven, but air frying gives you a couple of advantages. First, air fryers cook food quickly and evenly. If you’ve ever had unevenly cooked baked apples, you know that some parts can be overcooked while others are still hard. air frying helps to avoid this problem.
The main reason I love making my baked apples in the air fryer is because it’s faster. Simple baked apples in the oven takes 20-30 minutes. For this recipe, the cook time is 10 minutes! The entire recipe is ready in less than 20 minutes…that makes a perfect healthy dessert, side dish, or snack!
Recipe Ingredients-What You Need

The natural sweetness of the fresh apples is all you need to make this a delicious sweet treat. You’ll notice this is a healthier recipe than most baked apples with no added sugar!
4 apples
Apples are a great source of fiber and vitamins A and C. I like sweet apple varieties like Honey Crisp for this, but have used many different kinds like Golden Delicious, Gala, or even tart varieties like Granny Smith apples. Use your favorite apples or whatever you have on hand. I prefer to peel my apples for this recipe, but leaving the skin on add nutrients.
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Cinnamon has been shown to help regulate blood sugar levels. It’s also a great source of antioxidants. I amped up the amount of cinnamon in this recipe and I’m not sorry. The cinnamon adds so much flavor.
2 tablespoons butter
Butter adds flavor and richness to this recipe. You could also use coconut oil if you can’t have dairy, although the flavor will be different. I use pastured butter as it has the most nutrients.
generous pinch of salt
Salt helps bring out the flavor of the apples here.
touch of oil
You just need a touch of oil to coat the tray or your air fryer basket. You can use cooking oil spray, but it can damage the coating on your air fryer trays/baskets.
How to Make Air Fryer Apples

- Sprinkle them with 1 teaspoon of the cinnamon.

- Lightly brush your air fryer tray or basket with a small amount of oil.

Serving Air Fried Apples
- These easy air fryer apples are perfect as a side dish for almost any dinner. They are a natural fit with any pork chops or pork tenderloin, and also go well with chicken. Try them with chicken baked with this healthy chicken marinade.
- With no added sugar, these cinnamon apples are great as one of your healthier desserts. They will be lovely as is, but if you want to take them over the top, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or top with some whipped cream on top of the apples. They’d also be fantastic with a drizzle of this vegan caramel dip.
- Leftover apples make a quick, easy, and delicious snack! They are great eaten cold or at room temperature–try putting them in your kids’ lunch boxes!

What’s your favorite healthy snack to make in an air fryer?
Maryea this has become a weekly thing in our house now. I make a big batch on Sunday evening and the kids eat them cold in their lunch boxes all week — they actually ask for them over store-bought fruit snacks which honestly feels like a parenting win. The Honey Crisp recommendation was spot on, the natural sweetness really is enough without any added sugar. I also tried it once with Granny Smiths and the tartness with the cinnamon butter was surprisingly good too, almost like a deconstructed apple pie.
One thing about the salt — I had the same question as CR above so I just mixed the pinch of salt in with the first teaspoon of cinnamon before sprinkling it on the raw slices and that seemed to work perfectly.
My daughter helped me make the last batch and she was so proud of herself that she insisted on photographing every step. I put her photos together into a little step-by-step GIF afterwards (adjusted the speed on gifspeed.com so each step holds long enough to actually see what’s happening) and she’s been showing it to literally everyone — her teacher, her grandparents, kids at school. Now two of her friends’ mums have messaged me asking for the recipe so I’ve just been sending them straight here. Bookmarking the apple crisp recipe next!
