Recipes for Eating Green on St. Patrick’s Day

Although I acquired an Irish name when I married, I’m far from knowing much about traditional Irish cooking. Instead of potatoes and soda bread, I’m focusing on eating green foods on St. Patrick’s Day.  I thought it would be a fun challenge to try to eat at least one green food with every meal.  Are you in?  Here’s some inspiration:

Green Breakfast Foods

Creamy avocado smoothie

Kale Smoothie

Immune-Boosting Green Smoothie

Green Lunch Foods

Spinach Nuggets

Spinach Cheese Bites

Green Grilled Cheese

Broccoli and Cream Cheese Sammy

Broccoli Bites

Green Snack Foods

Kale Chips

Football Game Guacamole

Green Dinner Foods

Sauteed Rainbow Chard

Edamame Salad

Penne with Kale and Beans

Green Dessert Foods

Mint Chocolate Chip Milkshake

I have to admit, I’m a little embarrassed to post some of these old photos.  I have a long way to go with my photography skills, but I think I’ve definitely come a long way from when I first started snapping photos of my food.    Practice, practice, practice!

Despite some of the pictures, I hope you enjoyed browsing through my green recipes.  St. Patrick’s Day is the perfect excuse to bring more green into your life!

Do you plan on eating GREEN for St. Patrick’s Day?

Green is actually my favorite food color, so I have no problem eating free…on any day! I esp love green tea flavored stuff…or pistachio gelato. Ooh.

I post old pics that I cringe at every single time i post them but i have new readers and i know that they will be more inclined to make the recipe if there’s a pic…even a horrible one 🙂

Love your helper and the magic bullet..and the green grilled cheese and brock bites! yum!

All the green food is so pretty, yummy looking, and makes my mouth water. I have to admit, I went with soda bread. But healthier soda bread. Made with whole wheat flour and honey to sweeten.

I love seeing all the green foods. Do you like the Magic Bullet? My blender sucks and I’m in the market for another.

I loved the Magic Bullet–R.I.P. We used it everyday for 2+ years, and then it died. I got a Vita Mix for Christmas, which is obviously more powerful, but the Magic Bullet was still awesome for the price. I loved that it was so portable, too, we brought it everywhere.

Every single one of those recipes looks DELICIOUS! I don’t even know what to try first. Except I’m already a huge fan of spinach drinks and smoothies and kale chips 🙂

I’ve been wanting to try the green grilled cheese sandwich ever since you posted it. I think tomorrow will be the day. I’ll use Daiya “cheese”, though. Can’t wait! 🙂

You’ll have to let me know how it works with the Daiya cheese.

Oh, and maybe some baby sliced cucumbers and sliced kiwi for lunch. Green “real” foods are the trend around here

You have nothing to be embarassed about, your photos look great, even the older ones. We always have a green smoothie for breakfast so we’re good there….for lunch we might have avocado, tomato, lettuce, vegenaise sandwich since both of my kids are on spring break this week and all of us are obsessed with that sandwich, and I’m not sure about dinner yet. Although, I’m thinking about doing Mama Peas quinoa stuffed peppers….green for the kids, red for us because I bought a combination of red/green peppers this week.

Aww, thanks Lisa. Your food plans sound great! Mama Pea’s quinoa-stuffed peppers sound delicious–I remember eyeing them a while back. 🙂
