The name Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies doesn’t really do this recipe justice. Really, they should be called: The Easiest Ever Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies. Yes, I do think these get the award for the easiest cookie recipe ever.
There are three ingredients, plus the chocolate chips. THREE.
And all you have to do? Stir those three ingredients together.
No fancy mixers.
No equipment besides your muscles and a wooden spoon.
No chilling time.
Guys, these are for sure the easiest cookie recipe you’ll come across and they happen to be the best almond flour cookies I’ve tried.
Recipe Ingredients: What You Need
I should mention that these Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies are vegan, gluten-free, grain free, Paleo, and made without refined sugar. Seriously!
- 2 cups finely sifted almond flour
- 1/2 cup almond butter
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1/2 cup stevia-sweetened dark chocolate chips*
That’s it!
Don’t have almond butter? Go ahead and use peanut butter.
I’m pretty sure honey would work in place of the maple syrup as well.
The one thing you can’t sub out is the almond flour or almond meal. That needs to stay. For best results, use the finely sifted kind and not the coarse kind. Most grocery stores carry both.
If you don’t have these ingredients, GO SHOPPING! Trust me, these cookies are WORTH IT.

**Please note as you continue reading, this was originally written in the winter of 2018. As I’m updating in 2022 I’m considering taking the personal anecdotes and photos out, but can’t bring myself to do it. I know personalization is being taken out of recipe blogs, but I love having these stories and photos in my posts and am unabashedly keeping them here. Of course as moms we like the ingredients, but want to know what’s the absolute best? When the kids give them their stamp of approval. To be specific, Meghan said, “These cookies are heaven!” when she took her first bite of these Healthy Chocolate Chip Cookies.
I haven’t had my taste testers around as often when I’m doing my photo shoots to get pictures of them for my posts…but we’ve had a few snow days around here, so the kids have been home during the day.
I’ll pretend I’m not ready to pull my hair out and I’ve loved every minute of the extra time with the sweet things.
It’s actually fine when it’s warm enough to enjoy the snow, like we did on Monday. We went sledding and were outside for almost three hours. Here’s an iPhone pic of a pretty scene we admired while taking a break from sledding.
Yesterday? Frigid. The only time I spent outside was sprinting to and from my car to a warm building. Most of the day, I avoided leaving the house.
Sounds like a perfect day for baking, no? I did appreciate having my taste testers for these Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies.
It can be hit or miss when I’m testing healthy recipes, and sometimes it doesn’t work out the first time. These were different and they were definitely impressed with this almond flour cookie recipe.
Luke gave the soft cookies a thumbs up.
If you have young kids you’ll notice this recipe is easy enough to make with them! Let me tell you how easy it is!
How to Make the Best Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies
These Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies take less than ten minutes to prep. Your search for the perfect almond flour chocolate chip cookie recipe is over. Here are the super easy instructions!
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Set your lined baking sheet aside.
- In a large bowl, combine almond flour, almond butter, and maple syrup. Stir until well combined and then stir in the chocolate chips.
- Using a tablespoon cookie scoop to scoop the cookie dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Use a spoon or your fingers to flatten the tops of the cookies. (The balls of dough will not flatten or spread during the baking time–this helps them become more flat cookies.)
- Bake in the preheated oven until just starting to brown, 12 minutes. Remove from oven and carefully transfer to a cooling rack to cool completely. Enjoy!
I would describe these as soft batch cookies. They are SO soft and a perfectly chewy cookie. These aren’t exactly like regular chocolate chip cookies, but are similar in texture to any other almond flour recipes. Many gluten-free cookies can turn out dry, but these aren’t dry at all. They don’t have crispy edges or any crispiness at all. I LOVE the chewy texture!
I’m obsessed with trying to make new gluten-free cookie recipes. Check out this Turtle Cookies recipe that the author says she’s made gluten free with success. They look incredible!
If you don’t eat these Almond Flour Chocolate Chip Cookies all in one day, store the leftover cookies in an airtight container or a ziplock bag.

I agree with you when you said it is the easiest cookie recipe. I made it quickly because of your recipes. All members of my family are keen on these cookies.

I love your gluten free recipes! They are pretty original, never thought of using almond flour for this type of cookies. Thank you!

Oh my!! Just made these cookies and I’m in love. Not just because it’s the easiest cookie I’ve ever made, but because it seriously satisfies my chocolate chip cookie desires without all the guilt. I may or may not have eaten three of them while writing this review 😉 I’ll definitely be doubling (or tripling) the batch next time. These won’t last long!!
Maryea says
They don’t last long over here, either! 🙂 Thanks for your feedback–I really appreciate it.
