Do you ever get sick of hearing about all the things that are bad for you? Sometimes, I just want to put my hands over my ears and sing loudly because I don’t want to hear it. The list is never ending and it’s exhausting. And don’t those things always seem to be what we love the most?
But hey! Let’s look at the bright side. There are some things we love that are on the good list. Wine. Red wine is good for your heart! CHOCOLATE. Chocolate is also good for your heart! Don’t take those away from me and I’ll be all right.
I do have to tell you something. Don’t shoot the messenger, okay? Chocolate is a fabulous treat, but it’s not a reliable way to get sufficient quantities of cocoa flavanols. Traditional cocoa processing, which includes drying, fermenting and roasting of beans, destroys many of the flavanols naturally present in the cocoa bean.
You know I have good news, too. I wouldn’t take chocolate off the good list. I would never do that to you. The solution to the cocoa flavanols being destroyed problem is CocoaVia® cocoa extract supplement. The benefit of chocolate comes from the cocoa flavanols, not from the percent cacao or the darkness of the chocolate. CocoaVia® supplement isolates the “good stuff” in chocolate in a convenient, versatile form, without all the calories and fat. It comes in small packet that you can add to your favorite beverage (like this Sweet Potato Chocolate Shake–more on that in a minute!) or food.
CocoaVia® is a daily cocoa extract supplement that delivers the highest concentration of cocoa flavanols, which are scientifically proven to promote a healthy heart by supporting healthy blood flow.† No other dietary supplement on the market today can guarantee the delivery of 375 milligrams of cocoa flavanols. CocoaVia® supplement is made using their patented Cocoapro® process, which retains more of the flavanols found naturally in cocoa. Yay!

The cocoa flavanols in CocoaVia® supplements are backed by two decades of scientific research that suggests these powerful plant-derived nutrients from cocoa beans may play a valuable role in cardiovascular health.
If you haven’t guessed, I used the CocoaVia® cocoa extract supplement to make this incredible, healthy chocolate shake. It just happens to be one of the most delicious chocolate shakes I’ve ever made. The cooked sweet potato gives it a rich and creamy texture, plus it’s loaded with vitamin A and fiber. It’s sweetened with dates, which also provide iron, vitamin B6, magnesium, and calcium. All of this and it is under 300 calories. You are going to love this chocolate shake!

Can I sub carob powder (and how much) for the Cocoa Via and espresso powder? I don’t do caffeine.
Thanks!
