Boozy Watermelon Slushy and Can-It-Forward Day Giveaway

Can-It-Forward Day

The last few years I’ve worked with Ball® to tell you about their annual Can-It-Forward Day.  This year’s event takes place on Saturday, August 1st with a goal of celebrating what “Made from Here” means by helping people learn safe canning practices and how to preserve their favorite fresh, local ingredients during their peak season.  There will be live demonstrations from canning experts throughout the event and you can watch from the comfort of your home!

I’ve only gotten my feet wet in canning, so this event is the perfect chance for me to watch, learn, and get inspired.  You can come back to this post on Saturday and watch the event live from 11am-4pm EST.  (The video will be visible at the bottom of this post during the live demonstrations.)

Boozy Watermelon Slushie Recipe. Perfect summer drink!

Even if you aren’t into canning, Ball brand has so many cool products and fun ways to use their jars.  Check out these awesome lids and straws they sent me.  Aren’t they cute?  (Make sure to scroll to the bottom of this post for your chance to win some of these cool products!)  The lids are made to fit on top of your Ball brand mason jars so you can drink your favorite beverages straight from the jar.

As for what kind of beverage, I highly suggest this Boozy Watermelon Slushy.  Of course, you can leave the booze out and let the kids have some, but sometimes you just need an adult beverage, no?Boozy Watermelon Slushie Recipe. Perfect summer drink!

This one has a few simple ingredients and is perfect for summer. If you don’t have or want to use coconut water, you can use a juice instead.  I think orange juice or pineapple juice would be tasty.  But my recommendation is coconut water, both for the taste and the health benefits.  Coconut water is so hydrating, it has to counteract the dehydrating effects of the booze, right?Boozy Watermelon Slushie Recipe. 1. That’s it. With those four things — plus maybe a fun swirly straw — you can say goodbye to 7-Eleven slushies and hello to a natural, frozen drink with booze in it. Life doesn’t get much better than that. You don’t need a lick of culinary skill in your power to make this drink at home, from scratch and all natural.

  2. I’ve dabbled in canning, but never got very far because I had problems with getting a good seal. But I still use my jars to store all kinds of pantry staples!
