Can you remember life before the Internet? I hardly can, but one thing I remember clearly is the catalog shopping days of my youth. Not only did I grow up before the invention of the Internet, I also grew up in a town so remote that the closest legit shopping mall was three hours away. Lots of my clothes shopping was done via catalogs. The best part of that scenario? The packages! Every month when I find my Stitch Fix box waiting on my front porch I get that same excitement. It’s even more fun because what’s inside is a surprise! I can see why Stitch Fix is getting so popular and everyone is trying it. It’s fun! Want to see what I got this month in my Fix? Check it out!
Pixley Fiona Maxi Dress $78.00I love maxi dresses. They are so comfortable that I feel like I’m getting away with wearing pajamas in public. And yet I looked semi-dressed up. So yes, I love maxi dresses. And I wanted to love this one. It’s got all the components of my style. Stripes are totally my jam and I love the cute lace detail. From the front it looks nice, if not a tad too long. Unfortunately, the fit of this maxi wasn’t flattering in the middle. It was just a little too fitted for the mama pouch that doesn’t seem to want to go away. Here is where I publish a most-unflattering picture on the Internet. No, no this isn’t a pregnancy bump shot. Just me in an unforgiving dress that I sent back to Stitch Fix. Return!
Skies Are Blue Abigal Lace Detail Knit Tank $48.00This is an okay top, but it’s not a $48.00 top. I’m not against paying a little more for staples if they have exceptional fit and feel, but this doesn’t. It looks like something I could pick up at Old Navy for $18.99. It tries to save itself with the lace detail on the back, but this lace detail borders on tacky. There’s a fine line with lace, and I didn’t love this lace. Return!
Market & Spruce Jillian Crochet Detail Tank $48.00
I have a long torso and I am always paranoid that my shirts are too short. This is one of those shirts that I felt was just a tad too short. I also saw a maxi dress at Target with this exact same fabric (it is a puckered type cotton) and crochet detail on the back for much less than this tanks costs. It’s not that I don’t like this top, it’s just that I don’t think there’s anything about it that makes it worth the price tag. As with the Skies are Blue tank, I couldn’t see paying $48.00 for this. Return!
Bay to Baubles Layne Half-Beeded Layering Necklace $34.00I’m not sure what happened to this photo, but hopefully you get the idea. Normally I’d never publish a photo like this, but since everything’s already been sent back to Stitch Fix, there’s no redos. I guess I just gave away what happened to this necklace.
Does “layering necklace” mean that I was supposed to layer this with something else? My stylist didn’t mention that in the note and they don’t show accesories on the style card. Since I wans’t sure, and didn’t really know how to layer it, I only tried it alone. This was an okay piece, but I didn’t love it. I feel like I’m saying that a lot lately. I’m thinking this could have been cool if I’d known how to layer it, but as it was I wasn’t impressed. Return!
Kut From the Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean $78
At first I wasn’t excited to see a pair of jeans in my Fix since it’s summer, but I loved them. I’ve tried on boyfriend jeans before, but had never found a pair that was flattering. These are relaxed but not so loose that I totally lose my shape in them. They are comfy and casual–perfect for my life. Keep!
I’m always happy with a Fix if there’s one thing I love, and I love these jeans. Stitch Fix is a great way to build your wardrobe over time and keep it up to date without having to spend time shopping. Don’t get me wrong, I love shopping, but getting to actually spend time searching for clothing that I love is a luxury these days I am rarely afforded. Stitch Fix is the perfect solution for busy women!
If you’d like to give it a try, I would really appreciate if you’d use my referral link. Once you sign up, you can also share your own referral link on Facebook or via email and you get a $25 credit for every friend who schedules a Fix. It’s a great referral program and helps a lot! I actually had enough referral credit this month to pay for my jeans. Thanks to everyone who has signed up with my link!

Ok, I’ve always loved your blog, but that sideways maxi dress shot made me love you even more!! haha! I so identify with the mommy pouch. I’m thankful that I’m not the only one who eats well, exercises and still has a little pouch. So, thank you for publishing that pic! It could so easily be me, except I don’t have an awesome blog to share such pics, LOL! I have been doing SF for almost a year, but I’ve been kinda disappointed lately. I cannot figure out if I”m expecting too much or what?!? Maybe fall will be better for me?? I haven’t found a stylist that I LOVE yet, but maybe next time. Its such a fun service! And I so remember the catalog days….I loved going to my aunts house because she got some really great catalogs and I would dog-ear all the pages checking out the great stuff!!

Thanks Leigh Ann! Some days I get frustrated with the pouch and feel like I should be working harder to get rid of it, but most days I just accept that I’m 37, have had 2 kids, and am doing pretty well overall with staying fit. 🙂
Stitch Fix is hit or miss for me, too. It started out really strong sending me things I loved, but lately there’s been less. It’s probably a good thing, though, since I don’t really need to purchase that many clothes! I still love the process and think it’s so much fun. That’s what keeps me from calling it quits.

Thanks for the shorts info, Mayea! I snagged the last pair in my size and for only $15! They are stylish and comfortable at the same time. Never mind SF, you have a great style all on your own! So happy to have found them.

What a steal! I got mine on sale at the beginning of the season, but I still paid more than that. Thanks for your sweet words. 🙂

Your pink and tan striped shorts are super cute! Do you mind sharing where you got them from?
Maryea says
Sure! They are from Ann Taylor Loft. 🙂

I was sent those jeans before too and loved them- just needed like a half size smaller so I didn’t keep them- so comfy though- glad they worked for you!
