With spring weather finally arriving where I live, I knew this week’s Spring Cleaning Challenge had to be getting our outdoor spaces ready to enjoy! When the sunshine and warmer temperatures hit, I want to be outside as much as I can. Our outdoor spaces needed a little work sprucing them up after being abandoned all winter long.
It doesn’t take a whole lot of work to have a comfortable outdoor space if you don’t want it to. We take a minimalist approach as we don’t want a high maintenance outdoor living area. We like to spend our time enjoying the outdoor space we have, not constantly working in it. One afternoon of work was all it took to get our outdoor spaces spring and summer ready. We have two outdoor spaces–a front porch and a patio in our backyard. I don’t have any before pictures as it wouldn’t have been super dramatic changes. The cleaning we did wouldn’t be noticeable in the photographs, but here’s a checklist showing the tasks we did to get our outdoor spaces spruced up and ready for us to relax and enjoy the great weather!
Spring Cleaning Checklist: Outdoor Spaces
1. Sweep/blow away leaves and debris.
2. Wipe down/clean all outdoor furniture.
3. Clean front door.
4. Clean outdoor light fixtures.
5. Pull weeds.
6. Add plants/flowers.
7. Add accessories such as outdoor pillows, candles, lighting, etc.
We were outside all weekend long, so we got our outdoor spaces ready just in time! I hope you are all experiencing the great weather that we are and are able to enjoy nature. Want more spring cleaning inspiration? Check out these posts from the Spring Cleaning Challenge series!

I like the minimalist approach. It’s very clean and inviting. I’m not a fan of clutter at all. The grouping of Adirondack chairs on your patio is great. Looks comfy.

I love your spring cleaning checklist! That’s really all you need to do to make your outdoor space look inviting and beautiful. Next spring I would like to add some decorative shudders to the outside of my house. It looks so bare right now, but I think the shudders will make it much more attractive. Thank you for all of the helpful tips!
