Please excuse my absence from blogging as I was busy making memories with my family at Disney World, and then spending this week recovering from said vacation. It always takes me a week to get back into my regular routine after a vacation. Am I the only one?
I actually spent at least two hours writing and rewriting a post that was to be a recap of our Disney trip. In the end, I just couldn’t hit publish. Every time I reread it it was too something. Too wordy, too corny, too boring. When the right words won’t come, I have to let the pictures tell the story.
The pure joy in this girl’s face tells the story so much better than I ever could.
Have a great weekend, everyone! I will be back next week with recipes. 🙂

Hello Maryea! I found your blog after my son was born last January and we found out he is MSPI. It has been great encouragement as I breastfed him until he recently self-weaned at 14 months. Unfortunately he is still MSPI. We are planning a trip to Disney World next year and I was wondering what your experience was there with finding dairy and soy free things for him to eat and how well they were able to accommodate Luke? Any restaurants in particular that had a good selection of dairy and soy free dishes? A blog post on this would be awesome!
Maryea says
Hi Gia! At the sit-down restaurants it was awesome. The chefs would come right to the table and tell me exactly what on the menu was soy and/or dairy-free. At the buffet restaurants, they walked me through the buffet and showed me exactly which items were safe. It was great. They were even willing to special make items if there wasn’t something I thought Luke would eat. We ate breakfast in the room so that was easy, but lunches were harder. We mostly ate at the counter service places and it wasn’t quite as easy to get a look at the ingredients in the menu items and there definitely weren’t as many healthy options that way. I will ask my mother in law if she remembers the name of the best lunch spots–she remembers everything! 🙂 For the sit-down restaurants, though, you should be all set! All of them had at least a few options to choose from.

Thank you so much for your response – I am so happy and relieved to hear that they are extra attentive. I can’t tell you how many meals I have had to send back at restaurants because there is a huge disconnect between the wait staff and kitchen. Needless to say we dont eat out much for that reason! With any luck my kiddo will grow out of it before then but I know we are covered in case he doesn’t!

Maryea,
You and Tim are SO tall! Luke is going to be like a linebacker!
I love how EXCITED Meghan looked every time one of the characters came to your table. 🙂
Maryea says
Haha! Tim is especially tall; I think I’m more average. 🙂 But Luke is already off the charts tall so I think he’s taking after his daddy! Yes, the excitement on Meghan’s face all week long made the whole trip. It was fun to watch.

Aww, isn’t that place truly magical?! I can’t wait to go back. I’ll never forget the look on Libby’s face when she first saw the princesses…made me tear up. So glad you had a wonderful trip!

It really is. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it. I actually thought it was going to be a vacation I endured for the sake of the kids, but I loved it, too. 🙂

hee hee! Okay I will. But I’m warning you, it’s bad writing. Sometimes the words just don’t come to me and this is one time where it seemed very forced.
