3-ingredient Banana Cookies
It’s hard to believe, but if you put mashed banana, rolled oats, and chocolate chips together and bake them, they come out as a delicious, healthy cookie!
I remember the first time I made 3-ingredient Banana Cookies. I couldn’t believe they were so good with just bananas and oats as the base.
There’s some added sugar from the dark chocolate chips, but no other sugars are added. That’s pretty rare with a cookie! You could even use these stevia-sweetened chocolate chips if you want/need these made with totally no added sugars.
What’s really great about these 3-ingredient Banana Cookies is they takes 5 minutes to mix together and 10 minutes to bake. You’re 15 minutes away from a sweet treat that’s healthy enough to be considered a breakfast cookie!
I find the best ratio of banana to oats is 1:2. I mash and measure my banana, and it usually ends up at 2 1/2 medium bananas to get 1 cup of mashed banana. Then I add my oats and chocolate chips and it’s baking time. So easy!I use a cookie scoop and don’t flatten them. I like them better and think they hold together better this way.
Right out of the oven, these 3-ingredient Banana Cookies are of course delicious. I know I have trouble waiting for them to cool. BUT…they do hold together best when you let them cool completely first. I just keep them on the cookie sheet and let them cool that way.
I hope your family loves these as much as we do!

These 3-ingredient banana cookies are such a genius idea! I love how simple and healthy they are—perfect for a quick snack or even a breakfast option. I’ve made similar ones before with oats and peanut butter, but I can’t wait to try this version. The idea of adding a bit of cinnamon sounds like a great touch. How do you think these would turn out if I used almond butter instead of peanut butter? Anyone tried that yet?
Not bad at all, though this is more of a healthy snack than a real “cookie”. I think I would substitute chopped nuts and raisins for the chocolate with the next batch to eat as an on-the-go breakfast.
Great idea!

Can you make these into bars?
That’s a great idea! I haven’t tried it but I’ll report back if I do. Please do the same if you try it. 🙂
I made two batches; added nuts to one and coconut to the other. They looked just like your picture, but “edible” is about all I can say. They were ok, but nothing to brag about with regard to taste. Just as soon buy a box of the imitation “Girl Scout” cookies from $General.
Hey Diane. These should not be expected to taste anything like Girl Scout cookies. They are a very “healthy cookie” with three ingredients, designed to satisfy a carb/sweets craving without added sugar. I’m sorry they weren’t what you expected.
Made them last night – couldn’t wait for them to cool down love warm melted chocolate. Definitely more a cookie this morning. Nice and filling easy to make and tasty
I also substituded the chocolate chips with raisens and nuts, they are delicious and healthy and you don’t hear those two words very often in the same sentence. : )
Thank you
Thanks for sharing this recipe 🙂 When I made it this morning it came out quite dense and chewy, so I’m just wondering what the consistency should be like? Thanks.
I would not call these dense, but they are chewy. 🙂
I’ve been making the banana cookies with my kids and they love them. I have recently been diagnosed with crohn’s disease and this is one treat I haven’t got to give up and eat as much as i like 😊 I’ll be looking to see what other treats I can make
So glad to hear that!
I substituted craisins for the chocolate chips as I am on a heart healthy diet now. And I have to eat low sodium and low fat and no processed sugar. They were delicious!
Wow such a crispy recipe i will try it at my home, Thanks for sharing the details.
