When different holidays roll around, do you find yourself dreaming of all the cute projects and baking treats you’re going to complete and then realize there’s no way in heck you have time for any of it?  That’s totally me.Easy Chocolate Bird Nests

I see the cutest ideas all over Pinterest before Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and Easter and have great intentions to make things.  Crafty things, baking things, all sorts of things.  Easy Chocolate Bird Nests

Then reality hits and it sinks in that each little “project” will take much longer than it seems and even getting one little thing done will be harder than anticipated.Easy Chocolate Bird Nests

This little Easter treat, however, is not one of those projects.  This Easter treat is for all you need-a-last-minute-super-quick-but-still-cute-oh-and-can-it-be-healthy-too gals.  These adorable little nests can be whipped up in 15 minutes or less.  If you have guests coming over at noon, go ahead and start them at 11:30.   You’ll be good.Easy Chocolate Bird Nests

Description

These Easy Chocolate Bird Nests are a quick and easy no-bake treat that is healthy and is perfect for spring or Easter!


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup soft pitted dates
  • 1/2 cup almonds
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon natural peanut butter or almond butter
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened shredded coconut
  • candy-coated almonds or other egg shaped candies, preferably naturally colored

Instructions

  1. In a high powered blender or food processor, process the dates, almonds, cocoa powder, and peanut butter until they are broken down completely. Transfer to a medium bowl and add the shredded coconut. Blend it in with your hands, kneading the mixture to incorporate the coconut.
  2. If the dough seems too dry/crumbly and isn’t staying together that well, you can add a splash of almond milk or a little more peanut butter/almond butter. Your dates may have been too old or dry.
  3. Roll the dough into 1 inch balls and press the center of the ball flat with your thumbs. Pinch the edges to create a nest shape. Place 2-3 candy eggs in each nest. Enjoy!

    hey those look really cute…i bet little ones wud love that…i have a question for you…whatndo you drink or eat post workout…i m starting to do a short but intense workout but feel really exhausted after it..any advices wud b appreciated..thnks

      It really depends when I’m working out. Lately I’ve been doing my runs right before dinner, so I eat dinner afterwards. If it is a different time of day I will sometimes make a quick smoothie or just grab a date stuffed with peanut butter or an energy ball if I have some made. And lots and lots of water!

        dates stuffed with peanut butter are just divine…so do you take any kind of protien powder at any time???and if you cud plz tell me what kind of tortillas do you use ??thanks a lot..tk cre

        I rarely use protein powder. We tried out some hemp protein powder a while back, but I could only add a tiny bit to smoothies because we didn’t love the taste. I don’t use one brand or kind of tortilla exclusively; it depends what grocery store I am shopping at. I look for the kind with the least amount of ingredients and whole grain varieties.

    I never would have thought to turn them into nests! Delicious! …..What a cute little Easter treat! Easter is my favorite holiday!
    I made unhealthy sugar cookies but it was the first treat that I had made in a VERY long time! They were delicious and cute. That being said, I now want to add these to my to do list for this afternoon. Yep, it’s a good one if I want to add it to the to-do list 🙂
