If you need a great way to boost the amount of leafy greens you’re eating, smoothies are an easy and delicious way to do it! This green smoothie recipe is bursting with delicious tropical flavor. Even your kids will love it–you can’t even taste the greens!
There’s no doubt that pineapple makes a great flavor for smoothies. I have this Pineapple Smoothie Recipe that’s absolutely incredible. I also use it in my Sweet Green Juice recipe. Besides flavor, it also boasts some great health benefits. Let’s take a look at the simple ingredients you’ll need to make this healthy smoothie!
Recipe Ingredients–What You Need
You’ll have a hard time finding a breakfast or snack recipe with fresher main ingredients!
Orange
The orange in this smoothie provides the liquid along with vitamin C. Instead of orange juice, I use the whole orange. Too much fruit juice can spike your blood sugar quickly, and using the whole fruits give you the fiber, too, and lowers the glycemic load.
Fresh Spinach
Baby spinach has a mild flavor making it a great choice for this fruit smoothie. You can use any greens you have on hand in place of the spinach. I love blending my greens into ice cube trays to have on hand all the time, even when I don’t have fresh greens. Find out how to freeze spinach cubes here.
Pineapple
Pineapple is more than just a sweet fruit–it’s actually a nutrient powerhouse! Pineapple contains the enzyme bromelain, which is known to be anti-inflammatory. Pineapple is also another great source of vitamin C, as well as Manganese, which is essential nutrient for brain and nerve function.
Banana
The banana adds to the natural sweetness of the smoothie. We don’t need any added sugar here! For a thicker smoothie, you can use a frozen banana. Bananas also bring nutrition to the table! The banana adds potassium and more fiber to this delicious smoothie.
Frozen Mango
I just love how frozen mango creates a perfect, creamy smoothie. The texture of every smoothie with frozen mango is the best. Mango is one of my favorite fruits and adds more potassium and vitamin C.
Water
Water is the liquid in this smoothie and I love it because it lets the pineapple flavor shine. This smoothie has a creamy texture without milk, but you can use regular milk or any non-dairy milk like coconut milk, almond milk, or oat milk. Coconut water works well, too.
Ice
I add ice to make this smoothie colder, which my family much prefers. Even when we use frozen fruit, we prefer a little ice to make it colder.
Optional Add Ins
The texture and flavor of this smoothie is perfect as the recipe is written. It’s always fun to customize recipes and change things up. My suggestions are add Greek yogurt for more protein (note that this will no longer be a dairy-free Pineapple Spinach Smoothie), nut butters for protein and healthy fats, and/or chia seeds, hemp seeds, or fresh ginger for extra anti-inflammatory benefits. Note that chia seeds will take away from the beautiful green color.

We love green smoothies in our house. If the smoothie isn’t green, my kids wonder what is wrong with it. Another really yummy thing to add to the tropical smoothie is a twist of lime…so good.

I love baby greens in smoothies. Especially when I get tired of kale. And these pre-made smoothies are such a wonderful idea…..means an extra few minutes in bed.
