Brown rice typically takes forever to cook, but you don’t always have forever. Minute® Ready to Serve Rice is your solution. Minute® Ready to Serve Whole Grain Brown Rice makes it a fast and easy, healthy option to have on hand. I whipped up this Dark Chocolate Brown Rice Porridge in just over 2 minutes. You can’t beat that for a fast, decadent breakfast.I’m not going to lie–this would make an equally irresistible sweet, after-dinner treat. It’s a whole grain, gluten-free dessert idea. The choice is yours.
Besides tasting like ultra-dark, chocolate bliss, I also love this because it’s made with whole, in-tact grains. So many sweet treats are made with flour, in other words grains that have been processed. We should all be trying to eating more whole, in-tact grains, and less refined and/or processed grains.
With a short ingredient list, this brown rice porridge could not be easier. You have two minutes in the morning, right? Then grab these ingredients and you can make this for breakfast. Why not start your day with some chocolate? Sounds like a good way to start your day to me.
While the toppings are optional, I highly recommend adding the sliced banana, walnut chunks, and if you’re feeling really sassy, the chocolate chips. I promise you won’t be sorry that you did. I hope you love this quick and easy brown rice porridge as much as I did!

Hello Maryea,
Thank you SO much for this wonderful ministry of yours – aiding us all along the path of wellbeing. I am most grateful.
Now I have a somewhat crazy question: is it possible that straight “fading glycerin” can give your face an orange cast? I see that my skin seems to be turning orange and it’s not from carrot over-dose or my Celtic hemocromatosis !
A word from the Happy Healthy Mama, please.

I’m sorry, but I’m really not sure. I actually don’t know what “fading glycerin” is; is that a face cream? Glycerin is derived from vegetable oil, so I wouldn’t think it would turn your face orange, but I suppose it’s possible. Are you eating a lot of beta-carotene? I know you said not a lot of carrots, but what about a mix of carrots, sweet potatoes, winter squash, broccoli, and leafy greens? All of these contain vitamin A and if you are eating large, large quantities could cause your skin to turn yellow/orange. Otherwise, I’d probably go to the doctor to have a check up–maybe there is an issue with your liver. Clearly, I’m not a doctor, so definitely take my advice as you would from asking a friend. 🙂
