So this dip. Two ingredients. Mix. This hardly qualifies as a recipe. But it’s just too good not to share. The first time I tried it, it was a happy accident. I wanted a quick fruit dip for Luke and mixed two pantry ingredients I had on hand: tahini+maple syrup. It was love at first dip. Luke and I were fighting to clean the bowl with our apple slices.
Seriously, my first thought was, “This is caramel dip!” I’m aware that this is not real caramel dip. Caramel=sugar+cream. Whatever. When you mix together tahini and maple syrup it tastes like caramel without any refined sugar or dairy. Boom.
In case you don’t know, tahini is sesame seed paste and you can usually find it in the “ethnic” section of most grocery stores. It’s a good source of iron and calcium. Snack away!

I told you it barely qualifies as a recipe. Just know that it’s equal parts tahini and maple syrup. The amount pictured is what the recipe calls for, but you can certainly make a bigger or smaller batch.
I’m still reading through your survey responses. Thanks again to those who took the time to fill it out. I will be compiling the results this weekend and will share them with you next week.

Delicious and ridiculous easy, which is right up my alley! I love it that I don’t have to get out a saucepan or blender for this one, and I always have the ingredients on hand. I added a little cinnamon since I enjoyed it with an apple. I do think tahini is an acquired taste for some, but if you already like tahini, I think you’ll really enjoy this recipe.

Very tasty, and so simple! I’m on a mission to get the kids eating more produce – just handed my son a bowl with some dip and a sliced apple and he devoured it 🙂

This is brilliant. Did you invent this? I cannot believe how good this tastes. Thank you!!!

I’m not sure if anyone has ever done this before, but I did think of it on my own. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it!

Looks yummy. But I’m obsessed with a great recipe that I love. Equal parts almond butter and maple syrup (1/3 cup), 1 T coconut oil and 1T vanilla. Heat over the stove on med low until you reach your desired consistency, usually 2-3 min. I have also been known to top my vegan chocolate cupcakes with a dollop and a pecan. Enjoy.
Maryea says
Ooh that sounds fantastic!

Can I replace maple syrup with something? Thank you in advance for the answer…
Maryea says
Hmmm….you could try a different liquid sweetener. The maple syrup really contributes to the flavor here, though, so I can’t say that it will taste the same.

I love watching you “grow” and become bolder and bolder, letting more of YOU shine through your posts, the longer you have this blog. You’ve really found your, for lack of a better word, voice, or, rather, become comfortable enough to use it, it seems, the more blogging years you put under your belt. (Does that all sound pretentious? I just mean it all as a compliment and a “You’re awesome!” 🙂 )
Maryea says
Thanks Liz. As a blogger who really wants to be authentic, that means a lot.

Such an interesting combo! I’d totally try this, then again I don’t know if I’d ever get sick of apples & almond/peanut butter. 🙂

Two ingredients is amazing, and even better, it looks almost exactly like caramel dip.
Fall has given me such a craving for apples, if I can find a place to get some tahini, I’ll have to try it. 🙂
Maryea says
You should be able to find tahini in your super market. I hope you do and love this! 🙂

Awesome! I was just craving some caramel and Apples today.

Great idea! Oh Heck I just bought my caramel sauce because I had only a little body energy and I just refused to mess up anymore expensive ingredients. I needed you to help me with my pie recipe. Tahini has its own distinct flavor can you taste it in the finished product?
Maryea says
Yes, I’d say you can taste the tahini. Mixed with the maple syrup it creates a really caramel-y flavor. I just love this dip! From your Instagram pics, I’d say you did pretty well with your pie! 🙂

You had me at “two ingredient”! Lol! I even have them both on hand. May have to try this today for our afternoon snack. Thanks!
