Natural Products I’m Loving Now: Spring Edition

It’s that time again:  time for another edition of Natural Products I’m Loving Now. Transitioning from traditional products in the home and for personal care takes time. It isn’t easy to find products that work well and are safe. I’m always on the search for products that fit this criteria and I try a lot of products, so I like to share what I’m loving. I want to save you time and money by sharing the natural products that have been working well for my family lately. So let’s get started!
Andalou Naturals Beauty Balm All In One Sheer Tint with SPF 30

Have you tried an all-in-one beauty balm yet? This one product can replace your moisturizer cream, foundation, and sunscreen and become your go-to facial product for the spring and summer.  I just love it.  Some days I still wear foundation, but most days I am fine with just this.  It goes on smoothly and is lightweight, offers a little coverage, and actually has a natural sunscreen built right in.  I do try to get some sunscreen-less sun exposure for the vitamin D when I can, but who am I kidding, I want to protect my face from wrinkling up like a raisin before my time.  I especially love this for days when I don’t want to wear any make-up, yet don’t feel confident enough to let my face be completely “naked” as this offers a light coverage and makes my skin look nicer than when it’s bare.  You can feel good about putting this on your face everyday.  Check out its Skin Deep score:  1!

Ecover Automatic Dishwashing Tablets

I have tried just about every natural dishwashing brand under the sun, and none of them worked.  I always went back to Cascade because even though I want to use natural cleaning products as much as I can, I need them to work.  I need clean dishes.  I don’t want a weird film on them, either.  I have been using these Ecover natural dishwashing tablets for a few months now, and they work!  Because we have soft water, we only have to use half a tablet for each load and our dishes come out perfectly clean with no residue.  I should note that I also use plain white vinegar as a rinse aid.
Method Limited Edition Beach Sage Hand Soap

I usually use Method hand soap (available at Target or through Amazon) but I never really thought it was share-worthy.  Until I picked up this latest scent.  I’m obsessed with Beach Sage and think I need to snatch up as many bottles as I can since it’s a limited edition.

doTerra Essential Oils: Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint

We use a lot of essential oils in our house, but these three get the most mileage lately.  Separately, each one has a bunch of uses.  Lavender is an excellent all-purpose oil.  It’s great for skin problems, calming at bedtime or insomnia, and can help with anxiety.  Lemon is awesome for cleaning.  Luke wrote with a dry erase marker on our plantation shutters.  Nothing was working, then I remembered to try the lemon essential oil and it came right out.  I also put a few drops in my water everyday.  Peppermint is a lovely cooling oil and is also great for headaches, stomach aches/digestion, and helps with energy.  So separately, these three oils are awesome.  Together, though, they form the “allergy bomb” which is fantastic this time of year.  If you suffer from seasonal allergies, I highly recommend you try these three oils together!  On a side note, I had no idea doTerra oils were available on Amazon.  I added a bunch to my store under the natural home category!

How do you use the oils to fight allergies? Just mix a few drops and drink the mixture?

I love these posts. It was perfect timing too as I am looking around for a new moisturizer. I will look into Andalou. And nice to learn about the dishwasher soap too. I hate using those cubes in plastic. I use method when I can but will try your brand out. Thanks for the tip of cutting them in half. Nice bonus there. And I also use white vinegar for my rinse too. Speaking of which, I use apple cider vinegar/water as a hair rinse. Love it!!

Thanks for the tips about essential oils…that’s amazing that lemon cleaned the marker off of your shutters! My husband and I have been using a mix of lavender, vetiver, sandalwood, and spikenard essential oils to sleep…and we’re sleeping much better! Lavender alone would probably do the trick, though!

I started a natural deodorant line recently, which feature all natural ingredients including aloe vera and essential oils. Lots of people love it! It’s really refreshing and even aromatherapeutic because of the essential oils. http://caitlinsupernatural.com/collections/frontpage

I’d never really been curious about essential oils until recently. Your blog is the second mention of doTerra essential oils in the past week. I may have to go look them up.

You definitely should check them out! Anything that helps people avoid over-the-counter meds is good in my book.

That’s good to know! It’s always good to have a backup that is available at Target. 🙂
