White sand beaches. The ocean, warm and salty. Eighty-five degrees, blue sky and sun. Really, that’s all I needed. That could be the whole trip recap.
Jamaica was fabulous and I want to go back. Why can’t Jamaican vacations be a monthly affair?
We stayed at Sandals Montego Bay in an ocean view room It had the. most. comfortable. bed. I could have been happy just laying in that bed all day long. If I had a few more days I may have spent a day getting lost in that bed.
The first day we arrived around noon, so we had some time to hang out on the beach and relax. Sandals had five restaurants to choose from. That evening we ate at the Italian restaurant. I have no pictures of my food. I’m just not that blogger who takes pictures of her food at restaurants. I do have a picture of me, though. 🙂 Here I am the first night:
I look like someone who needs a vacation!
I ordered a cheesy pasta dish at the Italian restaurant and it was just okay. Could have gotten something better at Olive Garden, actually.
Sandals has two resorts in close proximity, so we were able to use both if we wanted. The second day we checked out the other resort. It had a small island you could boat to, which we did.
The island was peaceful and quiet. It was a perfect relaxing day.
Look whose skin is lighter than the white sand!
Back at the room at the end of the day, after Tim got his shower in, the shower broke. No water. We called the front desk and they informed us a pipe was broken and they were working on it. Perfect. I knew I should have showered first instead of taking a snooze. Sure enough, that pipe didn’t get fixed and I had to make do without a shower. Yes, I looked lovely.
That evening we ate at the resort’s most upscale restaurant that featured Jamaican food. I ordered the vegetable pot pie. It was made with coconut milk and was fantastic. Again, no pictures of food, but here are me and Tim:
I’m blaming the extra-shiny face on no shower, even though I was able to wash my face. Whatever, that’s my excuse.
We came home to a rose petal-covered bed. This was thanks to the man who checked us in and informed us that he would do us a favor *wink* by checking the “yes” box next to the honeymooners question on our check-in form.
The third day we stayed at our resort and took part in the activities available. Tim played in a ping-pong tournament, we both took raggae dancing lessons on the beach, and we both played beach volleyball. Here’s Tim (red shorts) playing:
For our last night we ate at the beachside restaurant. There were picnic tables with white tablecloths right on the beach. It was a great setting. Unfortunately, it featured seafood and I’m not a huge seafood person. I like salmon and some other mild fish, but can’t stand lobster, crab, or any other shellfish.
The other two options were a chicken dish or steak. The chicken dish sounded eh, so I ordered the steak. Yeah. Big mistake. It was by far the worst steak I’ve ever eaten. I am not a super picky person and have never not eaten a dinner I’ve ordered at a restaurant. Well, now I have because I didn’t eat that steak. I had two bites and couldn’t eat any more. Thankfully the resort was all-inclusive, so after our meal at the beachside restaurant, we went to the main restaurant so I could get some more food.
The sun set a little too soon on our Jamaican vacation. Although I felt like I could have stayed another 4-5 days, it was really as long I could have been away from Meghan. Maybe that gets easier as your kids get older? All I know is that I couldn’t wait to get home and see her, as much as I wanted to stay in the Jamaican sun longer.
We came home to rain, rain, and more rain. Moving in rain is so not fun. I am hoping spring will hurry up and get here so I can stop wishing I was back in Jamaica.
My kitchen is almost all unpacked, so I hope to be back in the trenches with more cooking adventures to share soon. Thank you for your patience. 🙂

You look gorgeous! So glad you got to enjoy such a fabulous trip. I love the simplicity of all inclusive resorts – even if the food isn’t the best. 😉
