I checked and double checked my calendar–I am in fact in week 32 of my pregnancy. (After last week’s mix up, I can never be too sure.) October is almost gone. In a few more days Halloween will be done, then it’s Thanksgiving in a few short weeks, and then….Christmas! Christmas means baby time. Wow! Here’s how things are going this week.
How I’m Feeling
Overall, I’m happy and enjoying this pregnancy. I would describe myself as uncomfortable a lot, though. I just can’t seem to get comfortable, whether I’m sleeping or awake. There are aches and pains in my lower back, shoulders, and other random places. Carrying a baby is tough on a body!
I’m still spending a lot of time tossing and turning at night, trying to get comfortable. Sometimes it feels like I’m not sleeping at all, although I know I am. I’m just awake so often. The weirdest part about being awake so much during the night is the dreams. Since I’m waking up in the middle of so many different dreams, I remember them all. One night I dreamt, what felt like all night long, about pumpkin pie. In the morning I felt like I was baking all night and didn’t sleep at all. Very strange.
What’s Going on with my (and Baby’s) Body
According to my pregnancy books, Baby Bean is around 4 pounds now. If he’s anything like his dad (a 10 1/2 pounder at birth), he might be bigger. Whether he’s bigger or average-sized, I can tell he’s pretty squished inside me. I love when I can feel a foot kicking me on one side of my stomach and feel a push on the other side of my belly as well. I can just picture him stretching out.
My stomach is getting so big that my walk is turning into a waddle. Okay. Maybe it already is a waddle, not turning into one. I’ll embrace the pregnant woman waddle.
Exercising
The last two weeks haven’t been my best weeks. For two weeks in a row that I’ve only gotten two days in of exercise. For me, this doesn’t feel like enough. If my body was telling me to slow down or I was feeling like it was too hard to exercise, that would be one thing. But the opposite is true. When I get a workout in, I feel more energy and better overall.
I know the not sleeping well part is making it more difficult to get the workouts in. Meghan’s nap time rolls around, and I am so tired I want to just rest. Then I need to get some cleaning/food prep/blog work done, and boom! nap time is over. Excuses, excuses.
I think publishing it on the blog will help it become a reality, so I’m going to tell you that my goal is to get 4 workouts in the next week. I will schedule the times in and make it happen. Concrete goals really help me accomplish more, so I hope this helps. Baby and mama both need it.
Now I am off to enjoy some Halloween festivities. Tim and I have a funny couple costume planned. I’ll share some pictures on Monday. Enjoy your weekend!

Hi Maryea,
Thank you so much for the reply. I appreciate you taking the time. 🙂 I think you are absolutely right about not letting myself get hungry. I made that mistake yesterday. 🙁 It’s nice to hear someone say this first trimester is no bag of cherries! Being pregnant is no joke.
P.S. You look great! You are all belly. SO cute. Love the basketball. So clever.

Hi Maryea,
It has been awhile since I posted a comment on your blog, but I do read it regularly. 🙂 I am 7 weeks pregnant (my first) and I was wondering if you had morning sickness and if you found something to help. I have been feeling nausea for about a week and next week I have to travel for work. I am really worried about it with flying and having to be on my feet 12 hour days. 🙁 Any advice you can provide would be so appreciated.
Anyhow, I cannot wait until we meet your new baby!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Oh, how I wish I had some sure proof advice for you. I feel your pain! Yes, I did experience “morning” (more like any-time-of-day) sickness with both of my pregnancies. For me it lasted 17 weeks with Meghan and about 12-13 weeks with this one. One thing that helped keep it manageable was to never allow myself to get too hungry. Hunger was the enemy! Once my stomach was empty and I felt hungry, I was soooo nauseous. So I always made sure to have snacks readily available, even if it was just a small cracker. Definitely bring food if you are traveling! I wish I had more advice for you. The first trimester is so rough! Good luck. 🙂

I want to know how you dreamt about pumpkin pie all night and then didn’t wake up and make one! 🙂

Oh, I did! 🙂

Haha, I know what you mean about having to double check. I’m not even that far along and had to double check last week. I had no idea I was 17 weeks already. Where does the time go?
I also feel the same way you do about exercising. I know I just have to keep reminding myself of how good I feel when I do get something done 🙂
I’m curious to see your pictures on Monday 😀 And you look amazing, by the way!

How wonderful! I bet that is super tough not being able to peacefully sleep. That makes every aspect of life feel so labored, take care of yourself! Can’t wait to hear all about the costume and see some pictures! Enjoy your weekend!

You have to paint your tummy orange with a pumpkin face for Halloween! Your preggo belly is perfect for it! 🙂

That costume was definitely my inspiration. I couldn’t think of a good thing for Tim to go with a pumpkin, so I changed it up. 🙂
