My pregnancy: 38 weeks

I can’t help but wonder how many more of these updates I’m going to be able to do before I have a newborn in my arms.  At 38 weeks, Baby Bean is officially full term and ready for the world.

How I’m Feeling

It’s amazing what a few good night’s sleep in a row will do for you.  Miraculously, that happened for me and I am feeling a million times better than I was last week.  I still am getting contractions pretty much everyday, but so far nothing that’s made me think I’m going into labor.

What’s Going on with My Body

This week I’ve really noticed the size of my stomach.  Poor Meghan wants to snuggle up in my lap and there’s just no room.  It’s gigantic.  Some of my maternity clothes don’t even properly cover it up.  The only good thing about this giant stomach of mine is boy does it make people act extra nice to me when I’m out and about. 😉

At my weekly doctor’s appointment, I learned I gained another pound this week, so I’m up to 31 total pounds for the pregnancy.  The nurse took three tries to get my blood pressure reading, which had me worried for a moment, but in the end it was 110/70–normal.  We heard Baby Bean’s heartbeat and I was measuring right on track.  The doctor also observed that the head is down, but he couldn’t tell how far he’d dropped and didn’t think he was engaged yet.

Since there are five different doctors that work in the office of my OBGYN, whoever is on call the day I go into labor will deliver our baby.  I am praying that I go into labor when my doctor is on call.  The dates we are focusing on are the 16th, 17th, 18th, or 20th.  I believe in the power of prayers and the law of attraction, so I hope Baby Bean decides to make his appearance on one of those days!  There is a full moon coming tomorrow night, and I hope that the old wives’ tales about going into labor on a full moon aren’t true.

Have a fantastic weekend!

  1. Thanks for the post!!! I’m not pregnant, and I don’t have children yet so I’ve never been there myself, but I don’t understand people that act all surprised at big preggy bellies…Thanks!

  2. I just came back to this post to see what days you predicted (or should I say, WE’RE ATTRACTING!) It totally worked! I’m a firm believer in the Law of Attraction too… way to go and congrats again!

  3. I’m glad I’m not the only one with the doctor problem. When I delivered my son, you got the doctor you were seeing but now there’s just a group of doctors that deliver in our town and you get whichever one is on call. To be honest, I hate it because I don’t have experience with any other doctors and some I don’t even know. But I guess that’s how it goes. I’m certainly hoping for you, it would be so nice to have your regular doctor. You’re looking great! Take care! I can’t wait to hear some news 😀

  4. It’s funny how people are extra super nice to you when you are pregnant – I had random strangers wanting to rub my belly. Maybe for good luck? You look amazing and I will be sending some lovely positive birthing vibes for the dates you are focusing on 🙂

  5. Oh that is GREAT that you were able to get some good nights of sleep this close to the end! My daughter was born at 38w 6d, so seeing you now takes me right back there. I hope Baby Bean cooperates and you get to deliver with your own doctor!

  6. Good luck, Maryea and Tim. Looking forward to hearing the news of the birth of Baby Bean. You look beautiful, Maryea. XO
