Weekend reading

Sometimes the entire week flies by and hundreds of blog posts sit unread in my Google Reader.  Okay, sometimes two weeks fly by and that happens.  Then I get a few quiet moments on a Saturday morning to catch up.  Here’s some of the best of what I read today:

Motherhood:  A Career?  from Passionate Homemaking.  A witty response to the question “What do you do?” and you’re a stay-at-home-mom.  Working moms can relate, too, because they do all of this and have a career.

What Drowning Really Looks Like from Family Your Way.  This post could save your child’s life.

Preserving the Harvest:  Super Green Veggie Powder from Nourished Kitchen. I don’t get quite enough greens from my CSA box for this, but I’m saving the idea for when I have my own garden.  Someday.

35 Things I’ve Learned in My 35 Years from Simple Mom. I love Tsh’s outlook and agree with almost every item on her list.

Zucchini Chocolate Chip Cookies from Peas and Thank You.  I am pretty sick of zucchini in savory, vegetable form.  I can get behind these cookies, though. They are gluten-free, too.

Blueberry Beet Pancakes from Kiss My Broccoli. These are made with wheat flour, but I’m so intrigued.  Definitely want to try these once I can have wheat again.

Back to School Considerations:  Redshirting from Apartment Therapy.  I read this post with great interest because Meghan is a late September birthday and just makes the cut-off for kindergarten for our state.  If we start her next year she’ll be the youngest in her grade, by a lot.  The comments are interesting to read, too.

Happy reading and have a great weekend!
