Top Four Reason You Need to be Making Your Own Dressing
4. It only takes a few minutes. Every recipe for homemade dressing that I use is literally as simple as mixing the ingredients and serving.
3. Homemade dressing tastes better. Fresh ingredients with no preservatives? Yes, it tastes much better.
2. Variety is the spice of life. Instead of having to use up the big, bulky bottles taking up all your condiment space in the fridge, you can make small servings and have a different dressing every few days.
1. You control the ingredients. Added sugar. High fructose corn syrup. Unhealthy oils. You can leave all the bad stuff out when you make your own.
Have I convinced you to start making your own dressing yet? Hopefully you are already doing it and this is just another recipe to add to your repertoire. Let’s talk about why this one is worth making. It’s bold and full of healthful ingredients:
Raw garlic: enhances your immune system and helps lower blood pressure and cholesterol.
Raw shallots: an anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory food.
Orange juice: adds a shot of vitamin C.
Mellow white miso: a fermented food that introduces helpful probiotics to our guts and is a good source of zinc, copper, and magnesium.
Tahini: high in B vitamins and a good source of calcium.
Extra virgin olive oil: offers protection against heart disease.
Water: our life-giving substance.
You can’t go wrong with an ingredient list where every single ingredient has a health-promoting quality. Start making your food taste great and have the power to make you well. Make this dressing. Your salad will thank you.

There’s that miso you were talking about bringing more of into your life. 🙂 That dressing sounds so good–I might alter my dinner plans to make it tonight!

I actually do not even like store-bought salad dressings! Usually I just sprinkle olive oil/lemon juice/garlic on my salads or hummus thinned out with water, but this looks amazing! I bet it tastes so good and fresh on salads, too!
Alex@Spoonful of Sugar Free says
I totally agree. I always make my own dressings. Taste better and better for you! I love my ginger-miso dressing (ginger, miso, and lemon juice) , but your sounds so good! I will try it next time….

Ooh, ginger miso sounds like a good combo, too. Miso is a great flavor base for dressings, and super healthful, too!

We always make our own dressing. Just last night, I whipped up a honey-mustard and lemon vinaigrette for our salad. It was delicious! I love adding raw garlic to our dressing, too, for all of the healthy-ness it adds. I can’t wait to try this one. We’ll be having salad again tomorrow night and I’ll definitely try this as I have all these ingredients on hand already. Thanks!

Honey+mustard+balsamic vinegar is one of our favorite combinations! I hope you like this one, too.

I LOVE making my own dressing. It seems to be gone before I know it so I always store ONE bottle of store bought Goddess for those days I just don’t have TIME to whip up my own. 🙂 This recipe looks fab!
Maryea says
I agree–always gotta have one bottle in the fridge, just in case. Sometimes I’ll be finished making dinner and then realize I forgot to make the dressing!
