7 links

If you read a lot of healthy living blogs, you have seen the 7 links posts floating around.  It’s a little blog game where bloggers highlight 7 posts and then nominate other bloggers to do the same.  I haven’t had time to participate until now, so I’m a little late to the party.  But since Heidi from Food Doodles nominated me, I thought it was better late than never to jump in the game!

It was fun reading through old posts and harder than I imagined to choose posts for the provided categories.  I hope you have fun checking out some of my older posts.

Most Beautiful Post

I wasn’t sure what this category meant. Beautiful, as in beautiful pictures? Or beautiful, as in beautiful words?  Since I don’t really think any of my pictures are that beautiful (yet!), I went with a beautiful story where I highlighted my mom’s battle with cancer:  4 Years Ago Today

Most Popular

This is a tie between two posts for this one.

Breakfast Quinoa

This one gets lots of page views from google search results.  I guess a lot of people are looking for ways to make quinoa for breakfast!

Green Grilled Cheese

I get so much positive feedback on this recipe.  Kids are eating green grilled cheeses all over the world! 🙂  One reader even sent me a picture of her little one enjoying a green grilled cheese.

Most Controversial Post

I don’t think I’m a super controversial blogger, but I have a few posts that spurred some good conversation and are thought-provoking.  Maybe “Most Thought-Provoking” is a better title for this one rather than controversial.

Are Good Eaters Born or Made?

I wrote this post after Meghan left the I-will-eat-anything-you-put-in-front-of-me stage.  In the comment section, I loved reading how your children have very different eating preferences despite being fed similar diets from a young age.

Most Helpful

I hope that all of my posts are helpful in that they provide healthy recipes that are geared towards families.  I have received the most thanks, however, on two non-recipe posts.  These posts both gave you a peek into the food I keep in my house on a regular basis.

Most Surprising Success

I was most surprised when my post on Healthy Carrot Cake Cupcakes got some attention.  That was when my blog first started taking off and I was surprised that people were actually trying (and liking!) my recipes!  🙂

Post That Didn’t Get the Attention It Deserved

I couldn’t choose between two posts for this one.  They are both easy and delicious recipes that I feel like everyone needs to try, but they didn’t seem to catch on like I hoped they would.  Give them a look!

Roasted Portobello Mushroom Fajitas

Maple-Cinnamon Crunchy Quinoa

Post I am Most Proud Of

Again, I have to include two posts in this category.  The first is part three of my Breastfeeding Story.  I’m proud that I shared my story to help others and I’m proud that I was able to breastfeed Meghan for two years.

The second post I’m proud of is one that didn’t get much attention, mostly because it wsa still early in my blog days.  I’m proud of it because I think the recipe is fantastic–maybe my favorite on the blog.  I tried so many different ways to create a veggie burger that would hold a candle to the kind you can get in a restaurant, and this one does.  I love my Beet Burgers! {Even if the photo is subpar, these are soooo good!}

I ended up with 11 links instead of 7.  I was never much of a rule follower.  🙂 For any bloggers who haven’t been tagged yet, consider yourself nominated and jump on the 7 links bandwagon!

  1. I enjoy reading your daily posts. Especially when you include updates on your pregnancy. Then I can live vicariously through you!

  2. Loved this! I had a beet burger at this restaurant one time, and I can’t get it off my mind! I have been wanting to recreate it, but didn’t have the slightest idea how 🙂 NOW i do!

  3. I make the green grilled cheese and carrot cupcakes all the time! Thanks so much for these amazing recipes!! Yum, yum, yum!

  4. I loved your nursing series and stories, too!!!!

And the carrot cake muffins, I remember that one!

And I missed the ‘shroom fajitas. I do a similar recipe on my site and it got very little attention, too 🙁 Which is surprising b/c people always “ask for” vegetarian/vegan entrees that are hearty and that one fits the bill but it was kind of a missed post for me too.

  5. lovely post! love it — great way to look back at your blog’s growth. I think your blog was the one that got me hooked on to quinoa. Hope your pregnancy is progressing well.
