First, I’d like to apologize for the pictures today. If I’m going to post pictures of myself and publish them on the Internet, you’d think I could at least make myself look a little more presentable. This was taken last night, just before bed, when I realized Tim wouldn’t be home at all today and I’d have nobody to take my picture.
I should have taken the time to at least put some powder on, but I couldn’t fathom putting make up on right before bed. So, please don’t let the shine from my face blind you. Better yet, let’s just call it a pregnancy glow. I like that. Moving on….
Since my last pregnancy update, I’ve entered my third trimester! Baby Bean is now about 2 1/2 pounds and 15 3/4 inches long! It’s hard to believe that in 12 weeks, give or take, we’re going to have a son. I lose my breath just thinking about it. I lose my breath pretty easily these days, but I’d like to think it’s because I’m overwhelmed with joy. 😉
How I’m Feeling
Overall, I’m feeling great. I can feel tiredness and fatigue starting to creep back in. A few days this week I felt like I did back in my first trimester when I could barely make it to Meghan’s naptime before I collapsed in my own bed for a nap. I hope my energy levels don’t fall too much, because there’s a lot to do in the next 12 weeks!
What’s Going on with my Body
At certain times during this pregnancy I’ve felt like the growth was gradual, but the last two weeks I think Baby Bean (and my belly) had a growth spurt. Even Tim exclaimed “wow!” when I lifted my shirt for this picture, and he sees my pregnant belly every day.
I had a lot of swelling at the end of my pregnancy with Meghan, and I’m starting to notice it a little bit in my hands and feet. I especially notice it when I sit for too long at the computer. Is that weird that I notice it when I’m sitting rather than on my feet?
The Name Game
At this rate, the birth certificate for this child is going to read Baby Bean. Seriously, we’re not much closer in choosing a name. We have a list of 12 names that we like, but none that we feel strongly about and my favorites from the list are different from Tim’s favorites.
We don’t want to share our list because we don’t want to be influenced by people’s reactions, but at some point we might have to elicit some help. I’m not sure why choosing names is so difficult for us. Meghan didn’t get her name until the day after she was born!
For next week’s update, I’d like to do a Q&A type post, so please let me know what pregnancy-related questions you have. The questions can be related to food, a healthy pregnancy, or anything you want! You can either leave your questions in the comment section or email them to [email protected]

You look great! You are truly glowing. I know exactly what you mean about being winded easily. I spent about 99% of my third trimester on the coach with my feet up. Luckily, my husband (begrudgingly of course) took care of just about everything I needed. Love your blog, thanks for sharing!
Maryea says
Sounds like a great husband! I think I need to spend more time with my feet up on the couch. 🙂

I’m at nearly 36 weeks and my husband and I are JUST beginning to settle on a name…maybe! You’re not the only one:-).
Maryea says
Glad I’m not alone. 🙂 It’s so hard!

You look fantastic! We are in the same week! Swelling has started for me as well…have gone from engagement ring set, just to wedding ring, wont be long before I’m ringless! Home stretch!
Kelli H (Made in Sonoma) says
Maybe you already talked about this but are you shooting for a natural birth? I would assume you are.
P.S. You look great! No worries.
Maryea says
I will talk about this next week. Haven’t mentioned it yet.

you had me laughing out loud about the “pregnancy glow” 😀
nevertheless, you look beautiful!

Aw, you look fantastic! I hope your energy levels don’t drop too much either. I always felt like I needed to get everyone done before baby got here and ended up doing way more than I probably should have. There’s always so much to do and it’s not fun being so tired!
I know exactly what you mean about names! We didn’t name both our kids until after they were born. I think my son was even close to a week old, like 5 or 6 days! I always say I need to “meet” the baby before I can choose a name that fits for me. Either way, my hubby and I always had a hard time agreeing on one, haha.

Maryea, you look absolutely beautiful. I’m so excited for you and Tim and Meghan, of course. Love your blog, too.
Maryea says
Thank you so much, Julie. 🙂

you are looking amazing!! good luck with names… i didn’t have a name picked out until i was born, and my sister said to go with Felicia. maybe meg will pick out the name once she sees baby bean 🙂
Maryea says
She definitely has her opinions! It’s funny to hear what she says when we ask her what we should name her baby brother. 🙂
Stephanie@MyThornsHaveRoses says
WHAT are you apologizing for?? You look amazing!!! I love the name Myles for a little boy. Not that you asked for suggestions…but for some reason that popped into my head when I read this post. 🙂
Julie H. of Spinach and Sprinkles says
You’ll have a son in about 12 weeks! That is truly amazing— I’d be glowing too 😉 (you look great!)
As for the name, I think it is totally okay to not have the name picked out till the baby arrives. I think that is when the strong emotion and pull toward a name can happen too. No worries, Baby Bean will have a great name, just like his sister.
My question: where do you get your adorable maternity clothes?! I bet you weren’t thinking you’d get a question related to clothes 😉 ….You have just filled us in on everything else so well!
Alina M. says
Forgot to ask: can I have your pregnancy clothes after Baby Bean arrives :)? Unless you decide to have a third one… You have such a nice taste in clothes…:).
Maryea says
Aww, thank you! I’m not sure if we’re having a 3rd so I guess I better hold on to them. 🙂
Alina M. says
Maryea, you look awesome. So exciting to have another baby soon! I wish you to continue to feel well (I also had swelling with my first baby and my feet grew several sizes by the end :)) despite the little disadvantages that come with a pregnancy (swollen feet and hands, trouble sleeping…). For the next update I would like to read more about exercise. Are you still doing the DVD? I assume going for walks is still easy to do (slower, but doable :)).
Maryea says
I will definitely make sure I talk about exercise next week. 🙂

You look great!! Pictures like this make me excited to start showing….though I guess I should appreciate still being able to wear my normal clothes for as long as I can 🙂
