Your house is going to smell amazing naturally this holiday season with these essential oils diffuser recipes for the holidays!Smells play such a vital role in our memories. You can smell a certain scent and instantly be brought back to a different time and place. What happens when I smell Victoria’s Secret Pear Glacé lotion? I’m right back in college, slathering it on before running off to class. My roommate and I (along with alllll the college girls at the time) both wore the VS lotions so our whole room always smelled like whatever variety we were wearing. Of course I had no idea what I was putting on my skin.
When I started choosing more natural options for both my skin and my home, many of the nice smells I loved had to go. It’s much harder to find products that smell great and are natural. The good news is that there is a way to make your house smell amazing naturally.
Essential oils have powerful smells and when you diffuse them into the air, you can create a lovely -smelling home that not only smells better than the artificial air fresheners, is much better for your health. Artificial air fresheners contain dangerous synthetic ingredients that can cause headaches, lung irritation, and also may have carcinogens. It’s not worth it!
The holidays come with their own category of smells that stir up nostalgia. You don’t have to use holiday-scented candles or artificial air fresheners to bring those scents into your home. Diffusing essential oils is the way to go!
How do you diffuse essential oils?
The most popular way to diffuse essential oils is with a diffuser. I use two different diffusers from doTERRA, and my parents have this diffuser that they really like.
With these diffusers you simply add water, add the essential oils from diffuser blends recipe you are using, and turn it on. It’s really easy.
If you don’t have a diffuser, you can still diffuse essential oils into the air by boiling water on the stove and adding the essential oils to the pot of water. You do have to keep adding water as it evaporates, but it’s an easy way to diffuse oils if you don’t have an actual diffuser.
You need these essential oils diffuser recipes for the holidays to keep your home smelling wonderful all season long. An added bonus? These essential oils, when inhaled, actually have health benefits. So not only are you creating smell memories that will be cemented into your family’s brains for years to come, but you’re contributing to their health instead of hurting it with artificial scents. That’s a win!

How would I go about putting these together for a Christmas present? If for example I wanted to give someone a small bottle of winter chai would I just multiply the recipe until my bottle is full or would I put in water a carrier oil? My mother in law has an electric diffuser and I was hoping to make some scents she could add when she felt like it so it’s not as easy as just putting two drops of this and three of that.
Maryea says
I would probably do like you described and use a small bottle and just multiply the recipe until the bottle is full. I don’t think you’d want to put it in water as it won’t last as long. A carrier oil isn’t necessary for diffusing, so I wouldn’t include that, either. Please let me know how it works out! I love this idea of giving it as a gift. 🙂
