My three year old

Yesterday, my baby girl turned three years old.  It’s bittersweet watching your baby grow up, isn’t it?  I love the girl she is becoming and find such joy in watching new layers of her personality emerge with every passing month.  At the same time I don’t want her to ever outgrow the need for a hug and kiss from Mommy or Daddy.  I want her to stay my little girl forever.

Her official birthday party is on Saturday, but we had a mini-celebration on the actual day of her birth.  She was excited to open some gifts.

She loved her new baby doll.

For dinner, we took her to the Cheesecake Factory.

Here she is with her Nana and Poppy.

We splurged and let her get a chock-full-of-sugar piece of chocolate cake (to share).

Luckily, she wasn’t too interested in the sprinkles and I was able to push them aside.  I think I worry about artificial food colorings even more than sugar consumption.

After the wait staff sang the Happy Birthday song, she was ready to dig in.  Can you tell this girl loves chocolate?  This picture is not posed at all; it’s just a random shot taken of her eating her cake.  Her face looks like this with every single bite.  She’s serious about her sweets.

Happy birthday, Baby Girl.  Every single day with you is a gift.

(…and totally on board with caring more about artificial colorings than sugar!)

Happy Birthday Meghan! So true about the desire to not have your child outgrow the need for a hug. I hope that day is far far far away. For now we get to enjoy the day to day moments.

What a cute picture (the one where she’s eating her cake). Happy Birthday, Meghan! I’m with you, Maryea, I worry more about artificial food colorings more than sugar.

Happy Birthday Meghan! I love that last photo of her eating her cake! (I may or may not look the exact same way when I eat something chocolate.)
