Each week of my pregnancy feels like an accomplishment, but I have to admit this last month is going by so slow. Next week I’ll have my 16 week appointment and it feels like years since my 12 week visit. I guess you could say I’m anxious to get back into the doctor’s office and hear that heartbeat.
How I’m Feeling
Last week I spoke a little too soon. I had such a great week that I assumed the sickness was over for good. Not an hour after I posted my 14 week update I started feeling nauseous. We had a four hour drive to the beach and I felt sick the entire way. Whereas I hadn’t thrown up in the previous two weeks, I’ve thrown up twice in the last seven days. I’ve also had a few headaches, which make me really cranky. My energy levels are still lower than normal and my mid-day naps remain necessary. Overall, I’m still feeling better than I was, but not as good as last week.
Exercise?
I was unable to keep up any sort of exercise routine during my first trimester. Oh how I envy women who continue to run and exercise regularly throughout their entire pregnancy. In my mind, I am one of those women. In reality, I’m not. Between feeling lousy and having no energy, exercise during the first trimester consisted of taking Meghan for a walk in her stroller. I tried to make it happen 3-4 times a week, which I figured was better than nothing at all.
I would like to start adding in more exercise as I gain more energy. (Soon? Please!) I know from my previous pregnancy that I won’t be able to run. Running and pregnancy just don’t work for me. But I’d like to be able to take more walks, longer walks, and add in some light weight training. (All within the safe-for-pregnancy guidelines, of course) Last night I attempted a longer walk, but after about 20 minutes I already felt like I’d run 10 miles, so I only waked about 10 more minutes. Energy, please come back.
What’s Going on with my Body
Tim made a comment the other night that it looked like I’d grown a belly in a day. Can you tell?
I definitely feel like I’ve had some substantial growth this week, and not just my belly. I busted out the maternity shorts since my regular shorts were starting to get so tight they were looking scandalous. I’ve also lived in the skirt you see in the pictures. It’s so stretchy and comfy. I’m not wearing maternity tops yet, although many of my regular tops aren’t fitting well. It seems my more form-fitting t-shirts are suddenly too short. Not a good look. 😉
Next week I’ll find out how much weight I’ve gained. I do weigh myself at home, but it never matches up with the doctor’s scale. I only count my doctor’s visit weigh-ins as official.
My next update will include information from my doctor’s visit, which I have been praying goes well. I know that it’s out of my hands at this point and praying is all I can do.
I hope everyone has a fabulous holiday weekend!

You are so cute! I had my daughter at 28 weeks so when I got pregnant with my son the doctor said absolutely no exercise. At all… I wasn’t given the go ahead to exercise until I was 36 weeks with him and at that point I didn’t want to! I too was jealous of the cute little mamas at the gym with their big ol’ bellies lifting weights. I was barely allowed to walk on the treadmill 🙁 Hang in there girl and keep your chin up!

oh I hope you get to exercise more this time around. Maybe it will help with sickness. I bet you are wiped!
but your belly is precious!

You’re looking great! I’ll pray that the visit to the doc goes well. Maybe you could try pregnancy pilates or yoga? I’ve heard great things about it and it’s wouldn’t be as draining as running.

I’ve been thinking of looking into some pregnancy workout DVDs. I usually get bored pretty easily with DVDs, but I think it might be my best option right now.

Pregnancy looks great on you! I was always jealous of the women who had the beautiful pregnancy glow, I’m pretty sure I didnt have the glow! I remember the nausea like it was yesterday. Uggghh, yucky feeling. I hope it passes soon and you regain your energy. My energy came back at 16 -17 weeks, then I lost it all again at 30 weeks, but then, I gained 40 plus pounds! Yikes. Good luck at your upcoming Dr. apt, you have all the signs of a healthy baby growing inside you!

I love that color on you! 🙂
Hope the nausea disappears for good soon.

Most adorable baby bump EVER!!! You look wonderful and I hope your energy returns soon!! I so hope that I’ll be able to continue exercising with my next pregnancy. One of my fave instructors at the gym is due in August and still teaches spinning, Body Pump, and Body Step. She’s my inspiration!!! 🙂

You are so adorable! Good for you for listening to your body and doing what it needs, not just what you want to do. I hope you continue to feel better and better. (If only our kids would appreciate what we go through for them!) 🙂 Happy 4th to you and your family.
