I see it like this: healthy living is all about balance. Having a cocktail fits into my healthy lifestyle. And I happen to have a husband who loves to play bartender and make me drinks once in a while.
In the summer months I usually ask him to make the best margarita recipe, but when fall and winter roll around, it’s fun to drink seasonal drinks like this Apple Cider Old Fashioned Cocktail.
Up until recently, I couldn’t stand bourbon. It was so strong and just not my favorite. It’s Tim’s go-to liquor of choice, so he’d share a sip here and there. One day, I started liking the taste. So weird.
I basically feel like, at age 40, I’ve officially reached adulthood since I actually like bourbon now. If you are not on Team Bourbon but love rum, try this Sparkling Apple Cider Cocktail.

How to Make an Apple Cider Old Fashioned Cocktail

Description
This Apple Cider Old Fashioned Cocktail is a fun twist on the classic version and is perfect for fall or winter.
Ingredients
- 1 natural Demerara sugar cube
- 3–4 dashes aromatic bitters
- 2 ounces bourbon
- 2 ounces apple cider
- 1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
- ice
- optional garnishes: cinnamon stick, orange peel
Instructions
- In a mixing glass, muddle the sugar cube and bitters.
- Add bourbon, apple cider, lemon juice, and ice. Stir.
- Pour into an old fashioned glass ice spherewith an or large ice cube.
- Garnish with a cinnamon stick and orange peel, if desired. Enjoy!

Sounds delicious. In the Fall & Winter we tend to drink warmed apple cider bourbon drinks but this looks so tasty! Will definitely give it a try.
