On Friday I made a huge announcement about the Happy Healthy Mama Healthy Year Challenge. That’s a mouthful, isn’t it?  Even so, it’s something I’m excited to share with you.  Together, we are going to make 2016 our healthiest year ever!

Since January is Cut the Sugar Month, you didn’t think I was going to leave you hanging, did you? Let’s face it.  Just because we decided we’re giving sugar the ax in January doesn’t mean our sweet tooth is going to go away.  The good news is that we can still enjoy treats with 100% fruit-sweetened dessert recipes.  These can help us forget about all those over-the-top treats we indulged in during the holidays.

The problem is that while the fruit-sweetened dessert recipes are out there, they can be hard to find.  Ever notice how bloggers use the term “sugar-free” loosely?  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten excited about a recipe that was advertised as “sugar free” only to find it had 1/2 cup of maple syrup.  Refined sugar free?  Yes.  Sugar free?  No.  Now these desserts aren’t sugar-free, either, but they are added sugar-free desserts.  Any sugars are naturally occurring in the fruits that are used to sweeten these up.

I did the work for you, scouring the web to find these 15 recipes for fruit-sweetened desserts. Keep in mind that these desserts are not going to taste like your sister-in-law’s traditional fudge (I’m talking to myself here).  We are re-training our taste buds to love and appreciate desserts that aren’t sickly sweet.  You might even look at some of these and think, “Huh? That’s dessert?”  The truth is, that when you go sugar-free for a while, baked fruit does taste like dessert.  I hope these inspire you to sweeten your life naturally!

These look marvelous, and I would love to try some… however, when I click on them, I just see a larger version of the picture, no recipe. Is that because this is an older post, and the recipes are expired? Am I doing something wrong?

Stevia is not sugar. It has zero calories and zero impact on your blood sugar levels.

Gracious my, these all stable astounding! I am about normally sweetened pastries. The less included sugar the better. Furthermore, no additional sugar is the best! Looking at them and I’m certain making no less than one this week!

I’m one of those people who loves sweets, so I’ve always found going sugar free very difficult. However, I might be using some of these recipes, especially the banana bread date bars, in the future. Like you said, it might be hard to readjust to desserts that aren’t overly sweet, but it’s healthier. Thanks for all the recipes!
