What a week! We started the week with Luke breaking his leg and then the cold, snowy weather means Meghan hasn’t had school yet this week. This isn’t the post I had planned for today, but with one child needing me for every little thing (“Mommy! I can’t reach my car!”) and another one looking to me for entertainment, I haven’t gotten as much done as I planned. That’s life as a stay-at-home mom. Work (aka blog) related things sometimes just can’t get done.Yesterday Luke fell asleep while watching a movie (much more screen time than usual going on around here) in the late morning. Normally he only naps in his bed, but I’ve had to go with the flow more this week, so I let him sleep.
Meghan and I took the chance to sneak outside while he snoozed and have some fun in the snow. We used food coloring and water to decorate the snow! We had a blast with this little winter activity, so I thought I’d share this idea with you.All you need are squeeze bottles (I got these ones from Amazon Prime), food coloring, and water. Fill your squeeze bottles with water, add a few drops of food coloring, shake, and you’re ready to be an outdoor winter artist!
We brought flowers and sunshine to our winter day! We tried to make a rainbow, too, but that proved more challenging. Meghan didn’t want to get footprints anywhere near the art. We should have went for a smaller rainbow!
It turns out that today is another snow day, so Meghan will have been out of school a week. (Last Friday was no school because of conferences, Monday was a holiday, and now we are on our third snow day.) Looks like I’m going to be searching for more winter activities to keep the little ones busy! I hope you are all staying warm and safe if you are having crazy winter weather where you are! What’s your favorite snow day activity?
