Description

Made with onions, bacon, and maple syrup, this is the best bowl of oatmeal you’ll have made in ages! Get ready for sweet and savory to meet and bring your taste buds for a ride!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 slices uncured bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, cook the bacon over medium heat until done to your desired crispiness. Remove from and place on a towel-lined plate.
  2. Add the onion to the pan and cook until softened, 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the oats, salt, and water and bring to a simmer. Simmer until the oats are soft and the water is absorbed, about another 7 minutes. Stir in the bacon.
  4. Top each serving with 1 teaspoon maple syrup. Enjoy!
