Description
This Caramelized Onion Dip is bursting with flavor! Made with caramelized onions, cream cheese, sour cream, and fresh herbs, you’ll never want to buy store-bought onion dip again!
Ingredients
- 2 pounds onions, caramelized
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup (packed) fresh parsley
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 3/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- First, cook your onions until they are caramelized* (note 1). (See: How to Caramelize onions.)
- Allow the caramelized onions to cool.
- Place the sour cream, softened cream cheese, parsley, salt, pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder in a food processor* (note 2) fitted with the s-blade. Process until you have a smooth, creamy mixture.
- Add the caramelized onions to the food processor and pulse until they are combined, but there is still some texture left.
- Keep chilled until ready to serve.
Notes
Note 1: You can complete this step up to 3 days ahead of time. Store your caramelized onions in the refrigerator until you’re ready to make the dip. For best results in flavor, caramelize your onions for at least 30 minutes.
Note 2: If you don’t have a food processor, you may chop the parsley by hand and use a hand mixer or strong arm to combine the sour cream and cream cheese. Coarsely chop the onions before adding to the mixture.
