This Chocolate Orange Cake is moist, rich, and has a lovely orange flavor.

- 1 tablespoon vinegar + enough whole milk to equal 1 cup
- 1 3/4 cup (219 grams) flour
- 1 1/2 cup (300 grams) sugar
- 3/4 cup (64 grams) natural cocoa powder
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup avocado oil
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons orange zest
- 1 cup orange juice
Instructions
- Combine the vinegar and milk in a glass measuring cup and set aside.
- Grease a (12 cup) bunt pan and lightly dust it with flour. Set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder,
and salt. - In a separate large bowl, whisk together the milk, oil, eggs, orange zest, and orange juice.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir to combine.
- Transfer the cake batter to the bunt pan and bake in the preheated oven for 40-55 minutes.
- Start to check the cake at 40 minutes, when a toothpick comes out of the center of the
cake clean, it’s ready. - Allow to cool completely on a baking rack before removing from the
bunt pan. Serve naked or add a chocolate glaze, as desired. (see notes for chocolate orange glaze recipe)

Ingredients for Chocolate Orange Glaze
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 3 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 4 tablespoons heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Directions for preparing Chocolate Orange Glaze
- Sift your powdered sugar and cocoa powder into a medium bowl (this assures there are no lumps).
- Whisk in the heavy cream, orange juice, and vanilla until it is incorporated and a smooth consistency.
- Pour over your cooled cake.
